VS Achuthanandan lashes out at Chandy government

Thiruvananthapuram: The CPI-M led LDF Opposition on Monday began its indefinite Cliff House siege demanding resignation of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.

Inaugurating the protest, Opposition leader VS Achuthanandan lashed out at the Congress-led UDF government in the State saying that it was a looters’ company led by the Chief Minister, solar scam accused Saritha S Nair and Biju Radhakrishnan that had been ruling the State.

The LDF began its indefinite siege of the official residence of the Chief Minster demanding his resignation and a judicial investigation by a sitting judge into the solar panel scam.

“As a result of the protests by the LDF and the support it got from the people, the Chief Minister was forced to order a judicial investigation into the scam in August. But he did not include the role of his office in the investigation. We will not approve a mere probe by some judge,” said the Marxist leader.

He said it was the government Chief Whip who said that Sarith Nair and Biju Radhakrishnan had made crores through the scam with the help of the Chief Minister. “The looters’ company is run by three of them,” Achuthanandan said.

“This looters’ government is not able to care about the price rise, lack of proper drinking water and the rise in electricity charge. People are bearing the brunt of unemployment and other calamities. But the government is unconcerned.”

Achuthanandan said the LDF would continue the protests till a proper investigation is launched in the solar panel scam.
