Kerala Congress (M) censures Chief Whip P C George

Thiruvananthapuram: Government Chief Whip P C George, who has almost become an acerbic figure in the ruling UDF with his sharp criticism against the Congress leaders, has been censured by his party Kerala Congress (M).

P C George, who is Kerala Congress (M) vice-chairman, has been issued a letter by the party seeking explanation from him over his act of ‘frequently going public with insulting remarks against the leaders of the party and the front.’

Briefing the media about the action on Thursday, party chairman K M Mani said George should go soft on his criticism. “Party leaders should not be insulted. He should not go public with remarks that might harm the government,” Mani said.

“There are no issues within the party. We decided to issue the letter with the consent of senior leader P J Joseph.” Mani said George would give more details about the content of the letter.

He also said that to point out the mistakes was part of governing. “Governance is not a handcuff. If there are any faults in the ruling that will be pointed out,” said the veteran leader.
