Thiruvananthapuram: After government Chief Whip PC George flagging off a BJP sponsored marathon in Kottayam, now Chief Minister Omman Chandy and Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishan are in trouble for meeting the promotional team of the event.
Chief Whip PC George landed up in trouble for flagging of "Run for Unity" marathon and for releasing a T-shirt embedded with the picture of Narendra Modi on last Sunday. George was seen waving this T-shirt to the assembled crowd during the programme at the request of someone on the stage.
George, who invited criticism for his presence at the event which was considered a promotional activity of BJP in the state ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, on Monday passed the buck to the Congress leaders saying that the chief minister and the home minister should be fired first as they met the delegation from Gujarat.
Meanwhile Chandy admitted seeing Gujarat agriculture minister Babubhai Bokhiria and his 14 member team but denied having talked politics with him.
Earlier on December 12, Gujarat minister had told media that the delegation visited Omman Chandy on December 11 and handed over a letter written by Modi on the upcoming "Statue of Unity" project to him. The minister had also said that Chandy had shown keen interest in the project.
Interestingly, the team also had IAS officers who had previous stints in Kerala in order to make the mission easier for BJP.
The delegation comprised of Gujarat Tourism Corporation MD Sanjay Kaul, Gujarat Tourism Commissioner IP Jadeja, the member of Sardar Vallabhai Patel Rashtriya Ekta trust, besides other officials and six MLAs.
