Thiruvananthapuram: Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan has found himself in yet another controversy over his son Arjun Radhakrishnan’s business links with entrepreneur Adhilash Muraleedharan, a strong adherent of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
Muraleedharan was a part of the delegation that visited Kerala to promote the “Run for Unity” marathon, an event sponsored by the BJP.
Reports that Muraleedharan met Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan at Muscat Hotel here during the visit had kicked up a stir.
Thiruvanchoor had rejected reports of him having any relationship with Abhilash. He categorically said that he didn’t know the entrepreneur.
With a new twist in the developments, CPI-M mouthpiece ‘Deshabhimani’ on Saturday published a report revealing the association of the Congress leader’s son with Abhilash.
According to the report, Arjun is the director of Palm Infra Tech, a real estate company, and Techno Meet, an IT company, both owned by Abhilash and based in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. He was given the director post on July 1, 2011.
The report says that Arjun was appointed the director after Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan was made the Home Minister of the State.
As per the report, the Palm group is indulged in a wide range of business ventures including real-estate, solar energy, packaged drinking-water, and mining.
Meanwhile, reacting to the newspaper report, Abhilash Muraleedharan said that Arjun’s appointment had no political side. “I appointed him purely because of his qualifications,” he said.
