Petrol pump strike called off

Thiruvananthapuram: The strike call given by the association of petrol pump owners in the State on Friday has been called off.

A decision to call off the strike was taken after a discussion with Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, the association representatives said on Thursday.

Around 1720 petro pumps had called for the strike to meet their several demands some of them being a curb of allotting new pumps without following the procedural formalities and easing off stringent regulations.

The chief minister has assured the representatives of taking steps in favour of their demands.

"Hence, all the petrol pumps would remain open on the said dates, and would function as usual," they said.

The association has, however, decided to strike the service for 48 hours from January 20.
