Kannur: CPI-M Central Committee member E P Jayaran has come out in defense of controversial industrialist V M Radhakrishnan alias Chakku Radhakishnan over Deshabhimani land-deal.
Jayarajan, who is also the General Manager of Deshabhimani, told reporters on Monday that there was no wrong even if the land was sold to Radhakrishnan.
“Deshbhimani sold its land to Danish Chacko. We didn’t know about Radhakrishnan’s involvement in the deal. However, there nothing wrong even if it was sold to him,” said the veteran CPI-M leader adding that Radhakrishnan was not a criminal.
Deshabhimani did not suffer any loss in the deal. There was no situation that the land-deal was needed to be discussed within the party, he said.
Jayarajan further said that he had the support of the party in the issue.
The 32.5 cent land owned by party mouthpiece Deshabhimani at Manjalikkulam here was allegedly sold to a benami of Radhakrishnan on July 17, 2012. The land was sold for `3.30 crore to Capital City Hotels & Developers Private Limited based in Coimbatore owned by Radhakrishnan, say registration records.
However, the land was registered in the name of Danish K Chacko, an employee of a charitable society controlled by Radhakrishnan.
Danish was given charge of managing director of Capital City for some days to avoid a controversy.
