Crucial talks in Delhi to elect new KPCC president

New Delhi: Chief Minister Ommen Chandy and Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala, who reached here on Thursday to hold talks with the Congress high command to resolve the deadlock over the appointment of next KPPC president, met Congress chief Sonia Gandhi.

Talking to reporters after the meeting, Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala has said we have requested party president Sonia Gandhi to announce the name of next KPPC president as soon as possible.

“We expect that the appointment of the KPCC chief will not be delayed further,” Chennithala said.

Before meeting Gandhi, they also met Mukul Vasnik, AICC Secretary who is in charge of Kerala affairs.

With the president of the Kerala unit of Congress Ramesh Chennithala sworn in as a minister in the Oommen Chandy cabinet, there is curiosity about who will step into his shoes.

Among those whose names are doing the rounds are assembly speaker G Karthikeyan, union Minister of State for Home Mullapally Ramachandran, veteran leader V.M. Sudheeran and K. Sudhakaran and State Health Minister V.S Shivakumar.
