Thiruvananthapuram: The Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) has asked CMP to stay away from the programmes of the front following the split in the party.

The UDF leadership on Saturday asked both the factions in the party to not attend UDF meetings being held today to explain its policies and strategies ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

CMP’s two prominent leaders, K R Aravindakshan and C P John, convened two separate meeting of the party leaders in Thirssur and Thiruvananthapuram respectively on Friday and expelled each other from the party.

The UDF Convenor asked both the leaders to resolve the issues amicably before attending any UDF meetings.

Both the factions claimed that they had the support of the majority of its central committee members. However, both the factions have decided to stay with the UDF.
