Alappuzha: The local police has decided not to register a case against Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on the complaint that he violated motor vehicle rules by jumping atop a police vehicle during his visit to Kerala.
According to police sources, Mr Gandhi had jumped on to the vehicle with the knowledge of the security personnel as there was a surge of party workers when he arrived at Nooranad in Alappuzha district to participate in a 'padyatra' organised by the Youth Congress on Monday.
The complaint was lodged with Nooranad police on yesterday by a local NCP leader, Mijib Rahman, alleging Mr Gandhi's action amounted to violation of Section 123 of the Motor Vehicle Act and wanted police to initiate action against the Congress leader.
Mr Rahman also alleged that Mr Gandhi also misused police vehicle and caused inconvenience to the public by causing traffic congestion.
Leaders of the CPI-M and BJP also sought action against Mr Gandhi over the issue.
