Patna: Recognising the importance of social media, which has been used successfully by political leaders like Narendra Modi and others, Rashtriya Janata Dal president Lalu Prasad has opened an account on Twitter.

“Only change is constant. With change, we change, finally on twitter,” said the first message of the RJD chief on his account, @laluprasadrjd.

“Let us all work together towards a common goal for better future,” said another message.

Known for his earthy style and comments, Mr. Prasad drew 68 followers on Tuesday.

Mr. Prasad’s entry in the social media has been radical, considering his comment “Ye IT YT kya hota hai” (what is this IT).

Leaders who use twitter include L.K. Advani, Sushma Swaraj, Digvijay Singh, Arun Jaitley and the former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister, Sushil Kumar Modi.

Twitter, however, has not found favour with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar so far.
