Kozhikode: The Special Additional Sessions Court (Marad cases) at Eranhipalam, which convicted 12 accused, including three leaders of the CPI-M in the T.P Chandrasekharan murder case, on Thursday posted the case to January 28 for pronouncement of the quantum of punishment.
The hearing of the arguments by the prosecution and the defendants were completed on Thursday afternoon. The prosecution observed that the case is rarest of the rare.
Twelve accused in the politically significant T P Chandrasekharan murder were found guilty by the court here Wednesday, but some of the party's key local functionaries charged with conspiracy were acquitted.
Those let off by Special Court Judge R Narayana Pisharadi included CPI-M district secretariat member P Mohanan, who allegedly conspired to murder RMP leader Chandrasekharan.
A total of 36 persons faced the trial. Twelve were convicted today and 24 acquitted.
Chandrasekharan, who quit the CPI-M a few years ago, had floated the RMP. He was murdered by a seven-member gang at Vallikkad near Onchiyam in Kozhikode district on May 4 last year.
