Kochi: Justice Thomas. P Joseph of the Kerala High Court on Thursday recused himself from hearing a review petition challenging the verdict of the CBI Special Court discharging CPI-M State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan from the SNC-Lavalin case.

The review petition was filed by T.P Nandakumar challenging the CBI court verdict in the case.

The CBI court on November 5 had dropped CPI-M State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan and four others from the list of accused in the SNC-Lavalin corruption case dating to mid-1990s when he was the power minister.

The case pertains to an agreement with SNC Lavalin which allegedly caused a loss of Rs 374.50 crore to the exchequer. The final agreement with the company was signed when Vijayan was power minister in the 1990s in the LDF ministry headed by the late E K Nayanar.
