New Delhi: Poet Vishnu Narayanan Namboothiri and ISRO Chairman K. Radhakrishnan are among the nine personalities from Kerala who have bagged the Padma awards this year.

While ISRO chairman K. Radhakrishnan has been selected for the Padma Bhushan, poet Vishnu Narayanan Namboothiri, Dr M Subhadra Nair, Medicine-Gyneacology, Madhavan Chandradathan, Science and Engineering, Prof Kalamandalam Sathyabhama, Art-Mohini Attam, Bollywood actor Vidya Balan, Squash player Deepika Pallikkal, Cinematographer-turned-filmmaker Santosh Sivan and Dr. Poulose Jacob have been chosen for the Padma Shri.

Padma Awards - the country’s highest civilian awards, are conferred to eminent people for their contribution in the field of social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports, civil service.

The awards will be presented by President Pranab Mukherjee at a function held at Rashtrapati Bhavan around March/April.
