Thiruvananthapuram: Giving a clean chit to Industrialist M.A Yousuf Ali, the CPI-M State committee has rejected the report submitted by the party’s panel, led by K. Chandran Pillai and P. Rajeev, on the Bolgatty issue.
According to sources, the State committee has observed the controversy over the Bolgatty land deal was unnecessary. It has also warned the district committee that there should not be such a rival approach against the persons like Yousuf Ali.
A two-member panel comprising P. Rajeev, MP, and K. Chandran Pillai, was formed by the CPI-M Ernakulam district committee to look into the Bolgatty issue following a public uproar over the controversial land deal.
The panel report had pointed out that the Port Trust went beyond its mandate in leasing out the land for non-port activities. The report had concluded that the deal caused huge loss of revenue to the exchequer.
The CPI-M Ernakulam committee had come out against the Bolgatty deal. CPI-M district secretary C.M. Dinesh Mani had slammed the deal and asked for its termination as it “caused huge revenue loss to the government.”
