New Delhi: Terming CPI-M stalwart V.S Achuthanandan’s letter to the Chief Minister in support of K.K Rema as a wrong step, CPI-M Polit Bureau on Saturday, in a statement, said Achuthanandan’s act on the issue was not in conformity with the stand of the party.

“The Polit Bureau considers the letter written by Mr. Achuthanandan, as the Leader of the Opposition, to the Chief Minister of Kerala on February 7, 2014, as a wrong step and not in conformity with the stand of the Party,” the statement said.

In a deep embarrassment to CPI-M, Mr. Achuthanandan on Friday had written a letter to Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, supporting the demand for a CBI probe into the "conspiracy" behind the murder of RMP leader T P Chandrasekharan, contradicting the party's official stand on the issue.

Hours after CPI-M State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan expressed doubts about the veracity of the letter, Mr. Achuthanandan came out confirming that he had written a letter to Chief Minister Ommen Chandy, in support of K.K Rema.

Responding to Achuthanandan’s stand on the issue, CPI-M State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan this morning said he has nothing more to say what Achuthanandan had said on the issue.

“Achuthanandan had said the party was free to discuss his letter. I have nothing more to say on the issue,” Pinarayi told reporters here.
