Perambra: A one-and-half-year-old baby boy died of complications suspected to have been associated with pentavalent vaccination here on Thursday.

Sources said the boy was the son of Girish and Gilija and a resident of Perambra, Kozhikode.

The child was given the vaccination at the Changaroth Primary Health Centre on Wednesday. He developed uneasiness the next day. Though he was admitted to the hospital, his life could not be saved, the relatives of the deceased said.

The body has been taken to the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital and the exact cause of the death can be ascertained only after the autopsy is completed, sources said.

Meanwhile, Health Inspector N.T Jitesh said 17 children were given vaccination on Wednesday at the Primary Health Centre and no health issues have so far been reported from other children.
