Kochi: The State government on Friday filed an affidavit in the Kerala High Court stating that the KITCO, state-owned consultancy firm, had not been entrusted with the task of conducting a feasibility study for the Aranmula airport project.

The Chief Secretary, in the affidavit, has also said the government has not received the copy of the KITCO’s study report on the airport project.

The Kerala High Court had directed the State Chief Secretary to file an affidavit while considering suo motu proceedings initiated on the basis of a report apprehending that the proposed project may affect the threshold and temple pole of Aranmula Sri Parthasarthy Temple.

A study conducted by public sector Kerala State Industrial Consultancy Organisation (KITCO) had said the flag mast of the temple has to be lowered by 2.1 metres for the safety of the flights landing and taking off the airport.

It also wanted the height of the four hills around the temple to be lowered as they could pose objection to the approach surface constructions to the runway.
