Pinarayi defends C Bhaskaran, slams police for booking him

Thrissur: CPI-M state Secretary Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday came out defending C Bhaskaran, CPI-M district secretariat member, who was booked by the police for making derogatory comments against slain RMP leader TP Chandrasekharan in speech in Vadakara in Kozhikode.

“It is nonsense that the police filed a case against Bhaskaran for the speech. Only he knows what he said. The native people have a very good knowledge about Chandrasekharan. His remarks might be based on that knowledge,” Vijayan said.

Bhaskaran, in a speech, had allegedly said Chandrasekharan was murdered due to an extramarital affair and not out of any political rivalry.

The speech was made at a reception for P Mohanan, party's Kozhikode secretariat member who was acquitted in the T P Chandrasekharan murder case, in Kottaparambu near Vadakara on Wednesday.

Bhaskaran also allegedly threatened RMP leaders of dire consequence if they continued with their anti-CPI-M stand.

The speech created tension in Vadakara and Onchiyam regions as soon after it, RMP leader T K Anish was attacked, allegedly by CPI-M workers, in Velliyadu near Vadakara. He was admitted to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital and his condition remains critical.

"Bhaskaran's speech was intended to defame Chandrasekharan. He also threatened those who joined RMP in Vadakara. It was a provocative speech that said the CPI-M will unleash violence in the region again," Chandrasekharan's widow K K Rema told reporters.
