Kochi: The High Court on Tuesday upheld a petition by the victim of Paravoor rape case seeking a directive to retain the investigation officer in Ernakulam.

The victim had submitted the plea on Monday seeking to retain assistant commissioner Bijo Alexander, who heads the special investigation team (SIT) probing the rape case.

The victim had submitted that there was a possibility of investigation officer being transferred out of Ernakulam in the wake of Lok Sabha Election and completion of two years service in the district.

“If the officer is transferred under the guise of general order of transfer of officers, it would cause further delay in completing the investigation,’’ she submitted.

The probe is progressing because of the earnest and efficient attitude of investigation officer,’’ she stated in the petition.
