Kasargod: A cheating case filed against solar scam prime accused Saritha S Nair in a local court was Monday closed after she agreed to repay Rs 1.75 lakh taken from the complainant.

Hosdurg Judicial First Class Magistrate Rajeevan Vachal allowed P K Madavan Nambiar to withdraw the complaint filed by him against Nair.

Nambiar said that as per an out-of-court settlement, Saritha had agreed to repay Rs 1.75 lakh taken from him and two others on the promise of installing a windmill unit.

Nearly eight months after her arrest in connection with the solar panel scam case, Saritha was released on February 21 after she was granted bail in all 33 cases registered against her.

The scam, pertaining to alleged cheating of investors of huge sums by Nair along with her accomplice Biju Radhakrishnan by offering people solar panel solutions, had rocked the Congress-led UDF government in the state after alleged links between three staff in the office of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and the accused surfaced.
