Grateful for LDF invitation, says Francis George

Thodupuzha: Kerala Congress (M) leader Francis George on Tuesday expressed ‘gratitude’ to the CPI-M for inviting his party to the Left Democratic Front (LDF).

Talking to reporters here, George said there was nothing wrong in party’s senior leader P J Joseph and CPI-M leader Dr Thomas Isaac holding discussion.

Asked about the number of Lok Sabha seats the KC-M demands, George said the party has asked for more than one seat. “We will discuss and decide which constituencies they should be.”

LDF convenor Vaikom Viswan had given n open call on Monday to P J Joseph and supporters, who had merged their entity with the KC-M and pitched tent in the UDF camp before the last Assembly polls, to return to the LDF fold.

Bringing the division in the ranks of the KC-M to the fore, Joseph held talks with the LDF as it was reported that party supremo K M Mani was not genuinely keen to bag the Idukki seat.

The charge against Mani is that he is concerned about Kottayam only, where his son is seeking re-election, and the claim made by him for Idukki is not forceful enough.
