Kozhikode: KPCC president V.M Sudheeran on Saturday said he was appointed as the KPCC president not on reservation benefit.
“I was appointed as the KPCC president by AICC President Sonia Gandhi and Vice-president Rahul Gandhi as I’m a congressman. My appointment was not on reservation benefits,” Mr. Sudheeran said in reply to Vellapally Nateshan’s statement.
SNDP general secretary Vellapally Nateshan had said V.M Sudheeran was appointed as the KPCC president on reservation benefit and he should not have visited the NSS headquarters.
Apparently referring to the recent row triggered after his visit to the Nair Service Society
headquarters, KPCC President V M Sudheeran today said he has respect for all social organisation leaders and also the opposition though there are differences in their policies.
"I am a congressman from top to bottom. I have respect for all," he said.
Sudheeran's failure to meet NSS General Secretary Sukumaran Nair, when he went to the outfit's headquarters to pay homage to Mannnathu Padmanabhan, founding father of the organisation, on his 'samadhi day' on February 25, had triggered a row.
Nair had termed Sudheeran's act as an 'insult' to NSS, a poweful body of the forward Nair community in the state.
Replying to the reception accorded to him by Kozhikode District Congress Committee after he became the PCC chief, Sudheeran asked party workers to work unitedly to bring victory for the Congress and UDF in the Lok Sabha polls.
Sudheeran said "the doors of congress party are open and all those who accept the policies of the congress party are welcome to it."
