Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Governor Nikhil Kumar is likely to resign from the post within two days, sources said on Tuesday.

As per reports, Kumar is quitting the coveted position to contest the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls from his home state Bihar.

He is likely to stand as the Congress candidate in Aurangabad Lok Sabha constituency.

The 72-year-old, former Indian Police Service officer of the 1963 batch, was a Congress parliamentarian from the Aurangabad constituency in Bihar from 2004-2009.

His father Satyendra Narayan Sinha, a former chief minister of Bihar was a seven-time parliamentarian from Aurangabad.

Nikhil Kumar was sworn in as the Kerala governor in March last year.
