Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Whip P.C George on Wednesday ruled out his resignation over the issue of the Kasturirangan report on the Western Ghats.
“If I alone resign from the post over the matter, it will be a kind of insult to other MLAs. I don’t want to turn out the situation to be like that,” Mr. Gorge told reporters here.
“I’ve given a letter to party supremo K.M Mani and sought him to convene a high-level committee meeting to discuss the matter,” the Chief Whip said.
Earlier in the day, there were reports that P.C George had sought the permission of Finance Minister and Kerala Congress-M chief K M Mani to quit the post.
Responding to the Office Memorandum issued by the Union Environment Ministry on the Kasturirangan report on Tuesday evening, P.C George had said that the Centre did not show decency in issuing the two-page memorandum.
"We will be satisfied only if the recommendations become a law," he had said.
