Thiruvananthapuram: Hardening its stand on the Kasturirangan report, KC-M supermo and Finance Minister K.M Mani on Thursday has said a strong step will be taken if the draft notification is not issued.
“I’ve held talks with Chief Minister Ommen Chandy and Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala on the matter. I had also talked the issue with Veerappa Moily over the phone,” K.M Mani said in a statement.
The KC-M has convened a party leadership meeting on Friday to decide the next course of action after an Office memorandum was Tuesday issued by the Centre on Kasturirangan report.
Chief Whip P.C George Wednesday had said the meeting would take a collective decision on party's stance on the issue, which has become a major topic of debate for the coming polls.
Mr. Mani had said that he was not averse to stepping down from the Cabinet if the party did not get a positive response from the Central government on the controversial clauses in the K. Kasturirangan committee recommendations on Western Ghats conservation.
