Thiruvananthapuram: The Opposition Left Democratic Front (LDF) has reiterated that it can’t allot a Lok Sabha seat to its ally Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
The LDF had clarified its stand on Thursday in a bilateral meeting with the NCP, citing it was an ally of the Congress in the centre.
NCP representative T P Peethambaran reacted that the LDF approach towards his party was not appropriate.
The NCP leaders said that the LDF should not take such a stand as “our approach in several issues has been anti-Congress from the time of Indira Gandhi.”
The LDF State committee, which was expected to seal the seat deal at Wednesday’s meeting, could not do so as NCP representatives staged a minor boycott of the meeting at its beginning and rejoined other Left leaders only an hour into the proceedings.
The NCP leaders insisted that they should get either a Lok Sabha seat or the assurance of a future Rajya Sabha seat.
