Thrissur: Terming Opposition leader V.S Achuthanandan’s latest statement on the Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP) was substandard, Forest Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan on Friday took a jibe at the CPI-M veteran, saying that his statement has demeaned the slain RMP leader T.P Chandrasekharan.
“By making the statement, Achuthanadan’s stand seems like that of those who turned hostile in the case,” Thiruvanchoor told reporters here.
Reversing from his earlier stand on the issue, the CPI-M veteran Thursday had said the RMP, formed by T.P Chandrasekharan, was working as a tail of the Congress.
Right from the start, Achuthanandan had differed from the party's state set-up controlled by his bete noire Pinarayi Vijayan over the Chandrasekharan case.
The senior leader had often embarrassed the party by making open statements virtually challenging the party's official position on the case.
On the day of the crucial assembly by-election at Neyattinkara constituency, June 2, 2012, Achuthanandan had visited Chandrasekheran's widow K.K. Rema at her home and TV channels covered the meeting live. Rema, touched by the gesture, broke down and cried.
A CPI-M rebel from party bastion Onchiyam in Kozhikode district, Chandrasekharan, had floated a parallel outift called Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP) after falling out with the leadership. He was brutally hacked to death in May 2012.
