Thiruvananthapuram: M.Vijayakumar, a former speaker and ex-CPI-M legislator, has given his reply to the Election Commision on a complaint filed by Sashi Tharoor, stating that he didn’t defame the latter.
“Sashi Tharoor filed the case as a Union Minister. It is a violation of model code of conduct,” Mr. Vijayakumar said in his reply.
“I didn't defame him. I was reiterating the allegations which were raised against him earlier too,” he added.
M. Vijayakumar was Wednesday served a notice by the Election Commission on a complaint filed by Sashi Tharoor.
Tharoor, sitting MP and Congress candidate from Thiruvananthapuram, had accused M. Vijayakumar, a former speaker and ex-CPI-M legislator of tarnishing his image.
"In almost all TV channels Tuesday, there was news that showed M. Vijayakumar speaking that I have a doctorate in 'violence against women', which is also a violation of the code," Tharoor's complaint had claimed.
