New Delhi: Opposition leader V.S Achuthanandan Tuesday filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court, pointing out that former DGP Jacob Punnoose had intervened in the ice-cream parlour case.
Mr. Achuthanandan, in the affidavit, said he had lost faith in the special team investigation as former DGP Jacob Punnoose had intervened in the case and that was the reason why he sought for a CBI probe.
“The special investigation team had met the Advocate General. The meetings were held on December 19, 2011 and January 28, 2012. The contents of the investigation report were revealed during the meeting. It was a breach of law,” he alleged.
After the Kerala High Court rejected his plea, Mr. Achuthanandan had filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking a CBI probe into the sex scandal.
The alleged racket in the early 1990s involved an ice-cream parlour in Kozhikode as its base and was dubbed by the media as the "ice cream parlour sex case".
