Paravoor: One person has been arrested in connection with the murder of an aged couple at Vadakkekkara, near North Paravoor, last Thursday.

The special investigation team (SIT) led by Aluva deputy superintendent V.K. Sanil Kumar arrested Joshi, a resident of Neendur, on Tuesday. Joshi is a friend of the murdered couple’s son Rojo.

Jose, 70, and his wife Rosily, 64, were found lying dead inside their house due to head injuries caused using unidentified weapons.

The deaths came to light after a few election campaigners who visited the house found the door to the house remaining partly open and spotted the body of Rosily near the flight of stairs leading to the first floor. They informed the neighbours and the relatives residing nearby after which Jose’s body was also found on the first floor.

The couple, who had a son and a daughter, was staying alone in the house. While the daughter is working abroad, the son, Rojo, who was accused in a rape and blackmailing case registered at Paravoor in 2012 - has been absconding since then.
