Kannur: CPI-M state secretary Pinaray Vijayan and party’s central committee member Sreemathi Teacher on Saturday visited P K Kunjananthan, a convict in the T P Chandrasekharan murder case, in the central jail here.
Vijayan arrived at the prison along with MLAs T V Rajesh, James Mathews, and E P Jayarajan in the morning. The meeting , held at the chamber of Deputy Jailor, lasted for around 20 minutes.
Sreemathi, who arrived later to meet the former Panoor area committee member of the CPI-M, also visited the women’s prison.
Talking to reporters after the visit outside the jail, Sreemathi, who contested as the CPI-M candidate for the Lok Sabha election, said she lost several votes as the remand-prisoners were not allowed to cast their votes.
