Thiruvananthapuram: The results of Lok Sabha polls are crucial for the Congress chief ministers as the party high command has asked them be prepared to be replaced if they face a setback in the election.
According to reports, the Congress high command had conveyed its decision to the chief ministers, including Kerala Chief Minister Ommen Chandy, last month.
The party has reportedly asked its chief ministers in 11 states, where the party is in power, to ensure good performance in the election or be ready to face the action.
Chief Minister Ommen Chandy had said he was ready to shoulder responsibility in the event of a poor poll outcome. The statement is said to be in the backdrop of the high command’s directive.
Counting of votes in all the 543 Lok Sabha constituencies will be held on a single day on May 16.
