Alappuzha: The Alappuzha District Congress Committee has submitted a report to the KPCC, accusing Mahila Congress leader Shanimol Usman of working for the defeat of UDF candidate K.C Venugopal during the campaigning for the Lok Sabha polls.
Alappuzha DCC president A.A Shukoor, in the report, said Shanimol Usman had stayed away from the election campaigning for the UDF candidate in the constituency.
Meanwhile, Shanimol Usman told reporters that the allegation raised in the DCC’s report was wrong.
“I had actively involved in the election campaign for K.C Venugopal. As a national leader, I had to work in various places, not just in Alappuzha alone,” she said.
Though Shanimol Usman was listed in the probable list prepared by the KPCC sub-committee, the AICC had denied a Lok Sabha seat for her in the State. Following it, Shanimol had reportedly filed a complaint to the Congress high command.
Mr. Shukoor also alleged in the report that SNDP general secretary Vellapally Nateshan had also tried to defeat the UDF candidate.
