Governor can decide on shunting out MGU VC: SC

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday ruled that Kerala Governor can decide upon removing Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU) Vice-Chancellor (VC) A.V. George over the issue of misrepresenting his qualifications.

The apex court made the pronouncement after rejecting the petition filed by George, seeking a probe by a judge appointed by the court.

The State government had recommended the Governor, who is the Chancellor of universities in the State, to take action against A.V George on the matter. The report had stated that the Vice-Chancellor was appointed by flouting UGC norms.
