Thiruvananthapuram: The KPCC-government coordination committee Monday discussed the government’s liquor policy, but no decision was taken.

“No decision was taken at the meeting. The coordination committee will be convened again on Wednesday to discuss the matter,” KPCC president V.M Sudheeran told reporters here.

“A section of Congress leaders wants to implement the Justice Ramachandran Commission report. In the backdrop of it, the committee held discussions on the government’s liquor policy. But, we couldn’t take any decision on the matter at the meeting,” Mr. Sudheeran said.

“The Excise Department’s recommendation to grant the temporary licences was taken up for discussion at the meeting. The Department’s stand on the issue is in contrast to the Justice Ramachandran Commission’s recommendation that the licences of sub-standard bars should not be renewed,” he said.
