Moscow: A late own goal handed Spartak Moscow a 2-1 victory over Alania Vladikavkaz in their opening game of the Russian Premier League (RPL) football season.
Emmanuel Emenike put Spartak 1-0 up inside just 10 seconds Saturday, latching onto a flick from Artem Dzyuba and steering past Alania goalkeeper Dmitry Khomich with the outside of his right boot.
An equalizer was just 13 minutes away as Russia under-21 midfielder Arsen Khubulov connected sweetly on the fall from six yards out after goalmouth scramble.
The winner came four minutes from time, as substitute Pavel Yakovlev darted in from the right and centred the ball only for Alania defender Anton Grigoryev to turn it into his own net.
Earlier Saturday, Dynamo Moscow were stunned 0-1 by ten-man FC Volga, and CSKA Moscow beat FC Rostov 1-0 courtesy of Seydou Doumbia's second-half strike.
In Friday's season-opener, Lokomotiv Moscow held on for a dramatic 3-2 win over newly promoted Mordovia Saransk.
