Thiruvananthapuram: The State government Monday decided to seek fresh medical report on the health of PDP leader Abdul Nasser Ma’dani from the Karnataka government.
A meeting held here to discuss the issues related to deteriorating health of Ma’dani, was presided by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.
The meeting, attended by Health Minister VS Shivakumar and Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, also decided to ask the Karnataka government to provide finest medical treatment to Ma’dani.
Poonthura Siraj, the working chairman of PDP, demanded that Ma’dani be given interim bail or shift him to any jail in Kerala to provide him better treatment.
On a request by the State government, the Karnataka government had given detailed report of Ma’dani’s health recently. The government had also formed a panel of five doctors to examine the report.
The new decisions are in the wake of campaigns to help Ma’dani gaining strength. Members of the Congress-led UDF and the opposition CPM-led LDF had raised concerns on Ma’dani’s health in the recently concluded Assembly session.
Madani has been detained in the Parappana Agrahara Jail in Bangalore since 2010 in connection with the 2008 serial blasts case there.
