CMP leader asks LDF to clarify its stand

Kannur: Communist Marxist Party (CMP) leader M V Raghavan, a sulking constituent of the ruling United Democratic Front (UDF), Monday said he will make clear his stand on CMP joining the LDF once the latter revealed its position.

Raghavan was reacting to the statement of RSP General Secretary T J Chandrachoodan that the LDF welcomed CMP if it corrected its "mistakes".

Chandrachoodan's statement came at a time when there has been talk in the political circles on a possible CMP merger with CPI. Last week a prominent CPI leader Kanam Rajendran had a meeting with Raghavan at Kannur, giving rise to speculation.

However, Raghavan had then said there was no need for CMP to merge with CPI. 'We did not discuss on the merger issue', he had said.

CMP, which does not have any representation in the assembly, has oflate been unhappy with the front and had not acceded to the demand for the dismissal of the CPI(M)-led ruling council of the Kannur Pariyaram Medical College.
