Bangalore: A team of Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) leaders and CPI-M polit bureau member M A Baby Wednesday visited PDP leader Abdul Nasser Ma’dani, who has been lodged in a Bangalore prison in connection with 2008 serial bomb blasts here.

Muslim League leaders E T Mohammed Basheer, MP, and Abdul Rahman Randathani MLA, were also accompanied by Ma’dani’s son Umar Mukhtar and PDP general secretary Muhammed Rajeeb.

M A Baby visited Ma’dani earlier the day.

League leaders had already sought permission from the Bangalore prison authorities for meeting Ma’dani. Though the leaders sought an appointment with the Karnataka chief minister to discuss availing proper medical care to Ma’dani, the request was turned down.

Members of both UDF and CPI-M headed LDF opposition had raised the issue of Ma’dani in the recently concluded state Assembly session.

Ma’dani, arrested from Kerala on August 17, 2010, has been lodged in the Parappana Agrahara jail in Bangalore since then. He is among 31 people chargesheeted in the case relating to the July 2008 blasts here, leaving one killed and 20 others injured in the incident.

The Karnataka High Court had last month rejected his bail plea but permitted him to avail treatment in hospital of his choice under police escort.
