Kochi: CPI-M activists O.G. Madanan and Kainikary Kuttan, respectively the first accused and the third accused in the murder case of Anchery Baby, an Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) activist, on November 13, 1982 were granted bail here Saturday.
M.M. Mani, the second accused in the case had earlier got conditional bail from the High Court after spending 44 days in the sub-jail along with Madanan and Kainikary Kuttan, who were arrested five days after Mani’s arrest.
While the High Court granted Mani bail on the condition that he shall not enter Idukki district except for appearing before the investigation officer, Madanan and Kainikary Kuttan were ordered not to leave the district.
The Baby murder case was reopened after a political storm created by Mani’s statement that his party had prepared a hit list in the 1980s to eliminate its opponents including Baby. The case is being reinvestigated by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Kerala Police.
