Kochi: Private bus drivers and crew under the aegis of Motor Thozhilali Samyukta Samara Samithi, who were on an indefinite strike from Sunday midnight, have withdrawn their strike after the government agreed to revise the salary of the bus workers.

The decision was taken at the conciliatory meeting convened by the state government. The meeting was attended by Labour Minister Shibu Baby John, Transport Aryadan Muhammed, representatives of bus worker's union and bus owners.

By the agreement, a bus driver would get a revised daily wage of Rs 60. It was also decided to constitute a salary review committee to study the wage issues of bus workers.

All bus workers unions affiliated to major central trade unions including CITU, INTUC and BMS, took part in the strike demanding better wages and working conditions.
