Vigilance probe against Anooop Jacob, Johnny Nellur

Thiruvananthapuram: A vigilance court here Thursday ordered a probe against six persons including Food minister Anoop Jacob and Kerala Congress (Jacob) Chairman Johnny Nellur over corruption accusation.

The court order came in a plea by Ration Dealers Association national general secretary Babichan Mukkadan who accused in his plea that though the government allots Rs 250 crore food subsidy, the layman was not getting its benefits.

Babichan said allotting ration wholesale depot at Manarkad in Kottyam was illegal and accused misuse of government officials to collect fund for the by-poll of Piravam by the minister.

The court ordered the probe and asked Thiruvananthapuram vigilance director to submit the report by April 17.

Babichan filed the plea through Advocate Paul K Varghese based on reports in the media about the corruption and black marketing in the distribution of ration goods.
