Kochi: A total of 13 public companies with a total authorised capital of Rs 7.65 crore and 716 private companies with a total authorised capital of Rs 184.78 crore were registered in the State from October to December 31 last year.

Out of this, 43 were big sized companies with total authorised capital of Rs 50 lakh and above, a statement from Office of Registrar of Companies, Kerala and Lakshadweep said.

During the period, Rs 1,04,000 was imposed as fine by the Court against various companies. 91 companies were struck off, four companies were converted from private to public and four companies were transferred from other states to Kerala, the release said.

Out of the 729 companies registered in Kerala, the highest number of companies (251) were registered in Ernakulam District, followed by Thiruvananthapuram with 108 and Thrissur with 79 companies.

No company was registered in Lakshadweep. The highest number of companies (104) were registered for computer and related activities, 80 companies were registered for manufacturing section, 63 were registered for construction and 45 for wholesale trade.

63 chit companies were also registered. The lowest number (5) of companies were registered for business in stock, shares and securities.
