Saina, Kashyap advance in Malaysia Open

Kuala Lumpur: India's top badminton players Saina Nehwal and Parupalli Kashyap entered the second round of the Malaysia Open Superseries here Wednesday.

Top seed Saina dispatched Gu Juan of Singapore 21-12, 21-15 in 28 minutes. The World No. 3 meets Hong Kong's Yip Pui Yin in the second round Thursday.

P.V. Sindhu, however, went down fighting against Dane Tine Baun to exit the competition. The Indian lost 16-21, 21-18, 17-21.

In the men's singles, Kashyap beat Japan's Takuma Ueda 21-14, 16-21, 21-5 in a match lasting almost an hour. The World No. 11 next faces sixth seed Jan O Jorgensen.

R.M.V. Gurusaidut trounced compatriot Sourabh Varma 21-11, 21-14 to advance while Ajay Jayaram lost to Malaysian Daren Liew 15-21, 11-21.
