Malappuram: As the 53rd State School Art Festival came to an end here Sunday with huge crowds turning up for most of the events on all the 15 stages declaring it a clear success, Kozhikode ended up being the winner of the gold cup, with 912 points, its seventh overall title in a row.
Kozhikode emerged the winner after a close chase by Thrissur with 898 points.
The host district Malappuram is in the third place with 881 points, followed by Palakkad with 870 points, Kannur (858), Ernakulum (854), Kottayam (813), Thiruvananthapuram (769), Alappuzha (791), Kollam (764), Kasargod (763), Wayanad (733), Pathanamthitta (700) and Idukky (666).
Kozhikode also leads in the Higher Secondary category with 486 points. Thrissur is in the second place with 476 points followed by Malappuram (469), Ernakulum (467), Kannur (466) and Palakkad (458).
Thrissur leads in the High School category with 408 points followed by Kozhikode with 402 points and Palakkad (396).
The valedictory session held at the MSP Parade ground here in the afternoon was inaugurated by Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan.
