Thiruvananthapuram: Former Idukki district secretary of CPI-M, who was suspended from the party State committee for six month followed by his controversial speech on May 25 last year is likely to be reinstated.

The CPI-M State committee meet that concluded here Thursday has reportedly endorsed a suggestion to take the leader back into the committee.

Mani was forced to resign as the district secretary of the party followed by his speech in which he claimed that the party had, in the past, eliminated its political foes, including Anchery Baby, an Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) activist murdered on November 13, 1982.

Mani was apparently arrested by the police who reopened the murder case of Anchery Baby. The case is being reinvestigated by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Kerala Police.

However, Mani, who had been lodged at the Peerumade sub-jail ever since his arrest, was released from the jail earlier in the month after the High Court granted him conditional bail.
