Haven’t got P Karunakaran report: Prakash Karat

New Delhi: CPI-M general secretary Praksh Karat Friday said that he had no information about the report by P Karunakaran suggesting a central committee enquiry into the allegation of V S Achuthanandan’s former private secretary S Rajendran over Achuthanandan’s role in trying to turn events in the SNC-Lavalin case against party State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan.

The central committee hasn’t got any such report, said Karat here.

The CPI-M State committee that concluded in Thiruvananthapuram had accepted the report by P Karunakaran which contains the allegations of S Rajendran that Achuthanandan had made several moves to trap Vijayan in the Lavalin case. He had said that Achuthanandan had met T G Nandakumar for that purpose.

Karunakaran had suggested leaving to the party Central committee the question whether an inquiry should be held into the allegations. The State committee had also decided to ask the central committee to look into the matter.

The State secretariat meeting had reached in a consensus not to turn the issue into a controversy.

Meanwhile, reacting to the reports, Achuthanandan said the people would reject such reports with contempt. A CBI investigation was on into the Lavalin case and it was ridiculous to say that I had interfered with the investigation, Achuthanandan said.
