Thiruvananthapuram: The State capital on Friday witnessed demonstrations outside the Assembly demanding the resignation of Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman P.J. Kurien and P.K Kuhalikutty in connection with the Suryanelli case and ice-cream parlour case respectively.
The protests led by DYFI and Youva Morcha activists turned violent and the police were forced to use water cannons to prevent the protesters from reaching the assembly premises.
Meanwhile, CPM-led Opposition walked out of the Assembly after the government refused to take action against the police officers who they alleged assaulted two opposition MLAs outside the assembly.
