Thiruvananthapuram: D. Vinayachandran, well-know Malayalam poet, passed away Monday.
Vinayachandran (67) was hospitalised two days back followed by a stroke. He had also been suffering from kidney failure.
Vinayachandran was born on 13 May 194 at Padinjare Pallada in Kollam district. The poet, a Physics graduate, is also a first rank holder of post graduate Malayalam literature. Later he took up teaching and worked as a Malayalam professor in various colleges for more than thirty years. He is unmarried.
Vinayachandran is one of the proponents of modern style of prose in Malayalam poetry.
He has won Kerala Sahithya Academy award for his work titled 'Narakam Oru Premakathayezhuthunnu' (A love story titled hell). Vinayachandran has also won awards such as Asan Smaraka Kavitha Puraskaram (Prize for Poetry) 2006, Muscat Kerala Cultural Centre Award, and Changambuzha Award.
