Thiruvananthapuram: BJP national secretary Muralidhar Rao Saturday held discussions with leaders of the state unit in the wake of reported dissent on the choice of the party's new state president.
Rao, who is in charge of affairs in Kerala, met core committee members and later told reporters here that a decision on the new state president will be taken soon.
"We will have to settle everything before the national council of the party scheduled on March 2," he said.
He, however, denied about any rift in the party on the issue. While a section in the party favoured continuation of V Muraleedharan as the state chief, a dominant section was reportedly against giving him a second term, sources in the party said.
A decision on the new president was expected within a day or two, sources said.
